W1. Wikipedia: Reliable sources - CAI MUBO

Summary

In general, the more reliable sources include textbooks, official websites, professional websites and widely influential mass media etc. Although I do not often use Wikipedia.  I use Baidu more than Wikipedia in China. But I think that is should be similar. I think there are 2 points to ensure reliable sources. The first one is specific assessment source reliability. The second one is remove existing sources of unreliability.

Interesting point

I found that many people they compare Wikipedia with Baidu on the Internet. In short, Baidu is more oriented to China, and Wikipedia is oriented to the world. Wikipedia is more open, including permissions and information sources, but Wikipedia auditing is more accurate. The content of Baidu Encyclopedia is limited to the mainland of China, and the high authority is controlled by a few people. The source of information is strictly controlled, but the content promotion and advertising content are complex.

Comments

  1. I read your post with interest. Especially the part of the comparison between Baidu and Wikipedia was so interesting. Before I read yours, I didn't even know that Baidu is also one of kinds of encyclopedia like Wikipedia. And I came up with similar one in Korea named Namuwiki. But I think it can be an example of the unreliability one.
