W2-2. What is Wikipedia? / ji eun Bang

1) summary

Wikipedia is "online anenclopedia." Wikipedia is the sixth most visited website in the world. But it took about 20 years to grow so big. Wikipedia is defined as the best not only in the Internet but also in the ethics of economy and commutiny.
"Collective community" is similar to democracy. Because, free and democratically, they make continuous invitations to people. Even an amateur who is not an expert can participate if he or she is passionate about what he or she is most interested in. In other words, Wikipedia is the result of collaboration. When many ideas come together, people's various skills, thoughts, and personalities can be complemented by each other.

 2) interesting
I was very interesting that the Wikipedia Foundation does not own the copyright and that the copyright on all documents belongs to each author. Therefore, Wikipedia can be used for free, either non-profit or for-profit purposes. No one has to pay. Therefore, the volunteers' posting of their material on Wikipedia means that third parties may freely use the work for any purpose. However, it is prohibited to post others' works without permission. If you want to raise it, You should be allowed to redistribute or clone freely by a third party.

 3) discussion
If there is a problem with copyright issues, it is said to be deleted. It is also said that editors who constantly violate copyright are prohibited from editing. I think stricter warnings are needed. What do you think?

Summary Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia as an collaboration project. It isn't made by one people. Anyone can write and share information. It is maintained by non profit organizations. It is the largest and most popular  general reference work on the World Wide Web, and is one of the 20 most popular websites. Diverse information can be found in encyclopedia. Interesting point Wikipedia is made by group. All people in group can share their own information. Not only expert, but also anyone who have interest in topic, they can participate in make dictionary. I had a negative opinion about this in past, because this can affect on accuracy of information. But, after I realized that  this is "collaboration" project, many people can give a feedback to writers who post wrong information. Summary   Wikipedia's culture includes the topics of Wikipedia and the Wikipedia community, Joseph M. Reagle Jr. The 2010 book. This book was first published on August 27, 2010 through MIT Press and has a preface to Lawrence Lessig.   This book is an ethnographic study of Wikipedia's history, practical and theoretical pioneers, and culture, including consensus and collaboration practices. This book is described as a pioneering ethnographic study of Wikipedia culture. Reagle's main paper was summed up with the claim that "Wikipedia's success may be less technical than the results of Wikipedia's community and their cultural norms."
