Week 1-1 | Why are you taking this class? | Lee Jaeseong
Why are you taking this class?
There are three main reasons why I take this class.
First, I often use websites that use collective intelligence such as Wikipedia. I use these websites to try to get information, to be curious about the origin of an incident, or to get more information. So, I'm interesting in collective intelligence.
Second, I highly regard the potential of 'collective intelligence'. There are various people in the world. For example, suppose one likes war stories while the other likes economic stories.
If these two people make a document about World War II, this document will not only describe war, but also describe the economic crisis caused by war, economic benefits and losses. If a person who likes war stories makes a document by himself, the economic story of the document will inevitably be poor.
In other words, "collective intelligence" created by a variety of people expands the size of information. I took this class to think about the future of collective intelligence.
Finally, there is a question of whether the group is absolutely right. There is an old saying, "Too many cooks spoil the broth." Contrary to what I said above, I would like to think about what the limitations of collective intelligence are.
