 Why is Wikipedia less popular in South Korea than in most other developed contries?

 The reason Wikipedia is not as popular as other advanced countries in Korea is because there are alternative sites in Korea. There are currently about 490,000 Wikipedia sites in Korean, but there are as many as 2.7 million Namuwiki sites.

Namuwiki is also part of the Wiki project. The reason why Namuwiki is more popular than Wikipedia in our country is that the amount is huge in many documents. Also, it is easier to edit and has more functions than Wikipedia.

In addition, portal sites such as Naver and Daum are giving more information than Google. Under these circumstances, a variety of information can be obtained from various channels, even if the number of documents is small and unkind Wikipedia is not required.

Summary Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia as an collaboration project. It isn't made by one people. Anyone can write and share information. It is maintained by non profit organizations. It is the largest and most popular  general reference work on the World Wide Web, and is one of the 20 most popular websites. Diverse information can be found in encyclopedia. Interesting point Wikipedia is made by group. All people in group can share their own information. Not only expert, but also anyone who have interest in topic, they can participate in make dictionary. I had a negative opinion about this in past, because this can affect on accuracy of information. But, after I realized that  this is "collaboration" project, many people can give a feedback to writers who post wrong information.
