Why are you taking this class? / CAI MUBO
The most important reason is I think this class keeps up with the times. My major is journalism&mass communication but I do not want to study only my professional knowledge. I really want to expand 'my database'.
Collectivity is the source of strength, and all people are the cradle of wisdom. I always agree with that. However, 'collective intelligence' this phrase is frequently appears in textbooks of high schools and universities in China. So it made me believe that collective intelligence is important once again.
In my opinion collective intelligence ≠ collected intelligence. Because collected intelligence is more like only one people doing things. Somebody he said that collective intelligence is like pizza. Everyone in the team contributed as much as a small pieces of pizza, which eventually came together to make a big pizza.
In the end I hope that I can learn something different from this class. And use the Wikipedia that new way to learn about collective intelligence.
I hope you'll find the Wikipedia module fun! Try making some edits ASAP to get a feel for it (and extra points!).
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you on wanting to learn something else than my major. I'm majoring on Advertisement and Public Relationship and this is my first time taking the lecture for J&MC. I'm also looking forward to learn new kind of things too.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I understood the 'collective intelligence ≠ collected intelligence' part right, but I personally think the two of them are eventually the same, but what makes difference between them is the efficiency of process or more like time that needs to be spent. We have limited amount of time and we can not get to know everything with experience of oneself. So this is why we need everyone to participate in collective intelligence like you said. I mostly agree with your opinion but that's the little thing that I think a bit differently. :)
