W 5.1 The Challenges of Consensus / Juhee Cha

Consensus is a group that agrees with you about something you agree with. As noted in Wikipedia's "consensus" policy," reaching an agreement requires a serious handling of the opinions considered by all group members. In an ideal case, those who want to take any action want to listen to those who oppose it, because they rely on the fact that the discussion they follow will improve consensus." And while polls may be part of the consensus process, it is often more likely to be the beginning of the debate than the possibility that it will be the "one end." An agreement is an overwhelming one. It does not mean a full agreement.Wikipedia is an interesting example of a historical way of making community decisions in a new context. In particular, its openness-lack of subject and temporary scope, lack of initial facilitation, replacement of membership, anonymity- brings new vitality to the challenge of implementing consensus.
I thought an agreement was pursued to improve solidarity. I also thought it meant something similar to unanimous but different. Knowledge created unanimously involves a negative aspect. It may contain prejudices, bias opinions, lack creativity, or fail to change. But I think the knowledge created by the agreement will help maintain neutrality as anyone can make a righteous offer and hear opposing opinions.
But I thought there was a difference between the consensus principle and the majority decision process. What do you think is the difference between the two?
