W1-1. Why are you taking this class? / Lee Se Hyun (LATE POSTING - ADDED)
Why are you taking this class?
What are some
typical examples of collective intelligence in the world? Two main things are
Linux, which is famous for free software and open source development, and
Wikipedia, which you will study in this class.
Until now,
Wikipedia has received a lot of attention from the academic world and has
become the subject of many books. I think Wikipedia has created a new paradigm.
Since Wikipedia, experimental collective intelligence has emerged, and the
system that will lead the era is claimed to be "cooperation" such as
collective intelligence, not reward and punishment.
However,
cooperation in a capitalist system is a high-risk concept If cooperation is
successful, we can make a big profit. If you fail, you will be out of
competition. Several successful cases through cooperation are widely known, but
they are not easily applied. I want to analyze Wikipedia, a successful
partnership through this class. We want to see what the system of Wikipedia
cooperation is and what modifications will be needed to apply it to society.
