W2-1. Why do you think Wikipedia is becoming more acccepted? - seungju Lee

Wikipedia is being used in almost country in the world. Anyone can edit information on wikipedia. It is organized by non profit group. Nowadays, wikipedia is composed of over 500 information in 300 languages, 40 million informations.

Volunteers are working in wikipedia to check errors of information in Wikipedia. Wikipeida has been criticized by many people that Wikipedia has many inaccurate information so some information of wikipedia are unreliable.

But now, many people make effort to improve this. Each people give feedback to other people to make accurate document. I think this is real meaning of "Collective intelligence". Not make a dictionary alone but make document with many people according to share their idea, experience, etc.. This make information more correctly.

By Wikipedia, we can get diverse kind of information in our own language. And we can make our own dictionary. I think because of this, Wikipedia is becoming more accepted.

Summary Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia as an collaboration project. It isn't made by one people. Anyone can write and share information. It is maintained by non profit organizations. It is the largest and most popular  general reference work on the World Wide Web, and is one of the 20 most popular websites. Diverse information can be found in encyclopedia. Interesting point Wikipedia is made by group. All people in group can share their own information. Not only expert, but also anyone who have interest in topic, they can participate in make dictionary. I had a negative opinion about this in past, because this can affect on accuracy of information. But, after I realized that  this is "collaboration" project, many people can give a feedback to writers who post wrong information.
