W2. extra credit-Is this realistic? / ji eun Bang
Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge. Is this realistic?
I think this isn't realistic. The information gap is bound to emerge worldwide. Information and knowledge are included in capital as the industrial society enters a deindustrial society. Information is going through the process of commercialization. Unlike ordinary products, this is very fast in the process of creation and utilization. Thus, the gap in social inequality will deepen very quickly.
In Wikipedia, the causes of the information gap are divided into three.
First, there is an information gap between those who have difficulty purchasing computers and those who do not.
Second, there is an information gap with or without software purchasing power.
Third, education is the main cause of the digital divide. Training determines computer skills and software literacy. Therefore, the lack of education for this leads to information poverty, which leads to economic disadvantages.

Therefore, unless these three things are resolved, humans cannot fairly share the sum of knowledge.
