W2. extra credit-Why is Wikipedia less popular in South Korea than in most other developed countries? / Kim Seon Woo
It's that simple. Korea's earliest IT leader was Naver. The peers taking this class got their childhood information from ‘Naver Knowledge IN’. So they are familiar with Naver's UI and search method.
In addition, Naver has a strategy to trap users in Naver. So from a young age, we used to live in Naver and get information. So I was relatively unfamiliar with Wikipedia, which is accessed through Google.
However, in recent years, Google has become the # 1 search engine due to Naver's excessive advertising and limited search conditions. In the process, Wikipedia naturally came into play.
