W2. extra credit-Why is Wikipedia less popular in South Korea than in most other developed countries? - Seungju Lee

I think the reason of Wikipedia less popular in South Korea than in most other developed countries is the "existence of naver".

In korea, most of the people using naver. Because it is familiar to them that they having used for long time. And in naver, we can find information what we want. Once we typing keyword what we want to find in green box at homepage, lots of information are open to us in diverse form. Text, image, video..etc.

And, WIkipedia's language is mostly composed of English, so when I search information in wikipedia I spent lots of time in translating that document to Korean. But, naver ismostly consists of Korean, so it is convenient to find information what I want.

And also naver has individual space. Like blog. People can post anything that they want in their own homepage.

Summary Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia as an collaboration project. It isn't made by one people. Anyone can write and share information. It is maintained by non profit organizations. It is the largest and most popular  general reference work on the World Wide Web, and is one of the 20 most popular websites. Diverse information can be found in encyclopedia. Interesting point Wikipedia is made by group. All people in group can share their own information. Not only expert, but also anyone who have interest in topic, they can participate in make dictionary. I had a negative opinion about this in past, because this can affect on accuracy of information. But, after I realized that  this is "collaboration" project, many people can give a feedback to writers who post wrong information.
