W2. What is Wikipedia? / Lee Se Hyun (LATE POSTING - ADDED)
Summary
Wikipedia is
the result of cooperation. If you describe Wikipedia in one sentence, it's
" Many drops make a shower." One piece of information that individuals
have gathers and provides encyclopedias-level information. They provide their
own information freely and democratically and, if there are other opinions,
discuss them and coordinate their opinions. This figure has a similar
personality to democracy. It also has non-profit features, providing people
with free information and sources. People provide information for knowledge
sharing, not for money. Pure intentions could rise to a large community, encouraging
the participation of many people. They create many social benefits.
Interesting Point
Interested in
'cooperation'. I wonder what details it takes to be a successful collaboration
like Wikipedia. I wonder if Wikipedia's cooperative system can be applied in
other areas as well. If we apply the Wikipedia model to society and this
succeeds, won't our world be able to shape a high level of life?
Question
Can Wikipedia's
cooperative model be applied to industry in a competitive capitalist system?
