W3. Reading assignment 1, 2 - Seungju Lee

WIkipedia is not only an encyclopedia. Wikipedia is also a community. It is based on "cooperation" of members.  It is not made by one people but all members in group, anyone who interest in topic, they can participate in making information. All members in group collaborate each other.

Wikipedia is based on on five principles. Public content, transparency, integrity, non-discrimination, non-interference.

And also, Jimmy Wales founded Wikipedia, he wanted to offer encyclopedia to all of children in the world. 3 world countries also include in them. So, all of people in the world can find many information in their own language.

We can search diverse information in Wikipedia, we can translate many information in our own language and see them.

According to this story, I can get many information about history of Wikipedia. I realize that there had many struggles in continuing wikipedia. So, I thought when I using wikipedia I should always remember of their effort.

W2. What is Wikipedia - Seungju Lee

Summary Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia as an collaboration project. It isn't made by one people. Anyone can write and share information. It is maintained by non profit organizations. It is the largest and most popular  general reference work on the World Wide Web, and is one of the 20 most popular websites. Diverse information can be found in encyclopedia. Interesting point Wikipedia is made by group. All people in group can share their own information. Not only expert, but also anyone who have interest in topic, they can participate in make dictionary. I had a negative opinion about this in past, because this can affect on accuracy of information. But, after I realized that  this is "collaboration" project, many people can give a feedback to writers who post wrong information.
