W3. Reading Chapter 2 / Juhee Cha
Wikipedia's goal is to give everyone on the planet the freedom to share all knowledge of the world in the language they choose, and to modify, adapt, reuse, and redistribute as they please. And as time goes by, this mission will be achieved. The tremendous strength of the Web is its hypertextual and distributed features, but the Wikipedia itself is not distributed this way. Instead, many authors can collaborate on a single document stored in a central database that can easily manage, format, and express styles.

Well, I cannot agree anymore, but still it is not familiar to us. (This 'us' means Korean.) I don't know why, but I can only guess. We give much power to official media, such as TV, magazines, and news. Sometimes we depend on some experts who we believe smarter than us. It is not a special situation. I think this is the reason why Wikipedia is not so powerful in Korea.
