W.5 The Benevolent Dictator / Seungju Lee

After reading this, I went through a change of my mind. Until I read this article, I think dictator only behave for their own profit. I thought all dictator abuse their power to only take their interest.

But after reading this article, I can get a new concept of dictator. Dictator has a leadership to attract people and make them conform him. In this process, order is maintained and confusion is eliminated. Wikipedia is operated in a free from. Anyone can write, and correct other people's article. It has a lot of advantage, but on the one hand, it has a disadvantage too.

Anyone can use it without any restriction, there can happen many problems. I think confusion, conflict is included in them.

In order to solve these problems, someone has to come forward. Someone who has strong power, who can attract people to follow him. They mediate between those in conflict. I think it is dictator. But of course, they shouldn't abuse their power. They must use their power in order to make a peace in Wikipedia. I think it is a soft leadership and charisma.

But before that, I think the role of individual is also important. People who using Wikipedia may belong to group, or may not be. People who belong to group, they should communicate actively with other members of group. And who do not belong to group, they also have responsibility to write accurate information about their article. Not to make any problems like confusion and conflict, wikipedia users need to make a lot of effort from the individual, small group level.
