W6. Reading Assignment - Youngryun, Chun

1.Summary

The cooperative method, the process of creating the Wikipedia encyclopedia, has many negative reactions. The author speaks of Wikipedia's criticism of collaborative practice, universal vision, encyclopedic impulses and topics related to technical inspiration. First of all, there is the problem that references to information provided by Wikipedia seem prescriptive. Also, Wikipedia should be careful not to divide its field into extremes of conservatism and progressives. Finally, there is also a critical view of Wikipedia and "Web 2.0."

Criticism of people about Wikipedia is understandable. They may question the pros and cons of collaboration and the improvements. However, I think Wikipedia can be better because it not only serves as a work but also organizes and competes with knowledge.

Wikipedia is suspected by critics and is causing a lot of discussion, but even if the content freezes, it's certain to remain meaningful. Also, it continues to grow. 

2.What is interesting

I could learn about critical discussions about Wikipedia. Also, I could understand the debate about Wikipedia through logical reasons. However, this understanding saw the potential for Wikipedia to grow further. If it tries to understand the criticism, I think Wikipedia can grow a little bit more.

3.Discussion
 
I want to discuss the future of Wikipedia. I am looking forward to how it will grow. I wanted to watch Wikipedia's future after reading the previously included articles.

    I'm sure it will improve. And probably in a near future, it might get an ability to self-judge what is true, reliable, notable and contribute to Wikipedia, being a Wikipedian for itself.

    I think it will continue to develop through people's cooperation. Various information will be accumulated through collective intelligence. However, there are countless articles in English-speaking languages at present, but articles in other languages seem to be significantly lacking. I think Wikipedia will continue to develop if we solve these problems.

    Yeah I also really wonder about the future of Wikipedia. Will it still with us in the future or will now exist anymore?

W2. What is Wikipedia - Seungju Lee

Summary Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia as an collaboration project. It isn't made by one people. Anyone can write and share information. It is maintained by non profit organizations. It is the largest and most popular  general reference work on the World Wide Web, and is one of the 20 most popular websites. Diverse information can be found in encyclopedia. Interesting point Wikipedia is made by group. All people in group can share their own information. Not only expert, but also anyone who have interest in topic, they can participate in make dictionary. I had a negative opinion about this in past, because this can affect on accuracy of information. But, after I realized that  this is "collaboration" project, many people can give a feedback to writers who post wrong information. W7. Good Faith Collaboration / Kim Seon Woo

Summary   Wikipedia's culture includes the topics of Wikipedia and the Wikipedia community, Joseph M. Reagle Jr. The 2010 book. This book was first published on August 27, 2010 through MIT Press and has a preface to Lawrence Lessig.   This book is an ethnographic study of Wikipedia's history, practical and theoretical pioneers, and culture, including consensus and collaboration practices. This book is described as a pioneering ethnographic study of Wikipedia culture. Reagle's main paper was summed up with the claim that "Wikipedia's success may be less technical than the results of Wikipedia's community and their cultural norms."
