WK 4.1 Good Faith Collaboration - Hanane Ben Abdeslam

The perspective of ‘Good Faith’ is where other communities may have a culture of good faith. It means, trusting on the part of others, and acting with patience, civility and humor. According to the author in the reading, he noted that there is often a disconnection between written policy and actual practice within organizations. Within organizational studies itself, Edgar Schein posits eleven different categories of how culture is commonly conceived. The common definition about culture, how I interpret is, the way of life of a people, through which a community understands and acts, including its own maintenance and reproduction. Collaboration creates a shared meaning about a process, a product, or an event. Furthermore, collaboration stands among other related concepts such as dispute resolution, conflict management, and interdependent decision making. Therefore, this term refers by the author to a set of assumptions, values, meanings, and actions pertaining to working together within a community.

Moreover, the reading continues about how useful index cards are. In this paragraph I will talk about this index cards. Index cards were used to meet with collaborators. It proved a useful way for people to talk about their processes and requirements. You could spread cards on the table, write on them, and pass them around with others. This is the same thing that Wikipedia is doing right now. You can find an article, which you have interested in, and start to edit. Probably somebody else is also editing that article, and that’s how people are working together through Wikipedia.

The term collaboration refers to values, meanings, and actions. Which one do you prefer the most?
