why do you think people care about having a civil working environment?

There is a quote that "praise makes an elephant to dance."

This quote shows how polite or good praise works for people. There are many editors in Wikipedia, but they do not always spend time for Wikipedia. Many people, like many editors, also stop editing articles, and about 7 percent of people fight with other editors so stop making corrections. Fight sometimes brings too much stress, and when we fight strangers who we meet online, strangers are often very rude to us. It is not only stressful, but also shocked.

Caring and making a nice working environment is important - it can be a good stimulant that stimulates the efficiency or motivation of work, but not just that. We are trained to be kind to others, but we do not know why. There are some reasons about why we should care about it, like because of others’ feelings or because my bad attitude may be returned to myself, but I thought of a slightly different reason.

The reason why we need to create a civil working environment is that the people who work in it are working with me. In any community, a fight of disrespect never brings good results; a person who works with me can help me or help others. Collaboration, praise, and good attitudes are rewards for each person devoted to the community. These rewards, though it is non-monetary, turn into valuable experiences that cannot be bought by money to people.

  1. Yes. Do good things to other, they'll do the same to you too. The implicit agreement of human-race from the very beginning of civil and social life. Sometimes this 'reciprocity' is deemed some what of coercive action. In the theory of persuasion, one preferentially do good things to other in order to make them unable to refuse his/her request. In case of Wikipedia, we are not doing anyone a favor by being social, but like the saying "You can't spit on one's smiling face.", we do know that being cooperative makes others to be the same in a roundabout way.
