W11. Creative Commons - Woojin Jeong

Summary

Creative Commons is a global nonprofit organization enabling sharing and reuse of creativity and knowledge through the provision of free legal tools. Creative Commons is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal services. CC is similar to a self-help service that offers free, form-based legal documents for others to use. Moreover Creative Commons not only provides copyright licenses but also offers other legal and technical tools that also facilitate sharing and discovery of creative works.

Interesting/Learned
I was surprised and grateful that CC had a good influence on the expansion and development of creations on the Internet. I've never known there is great way to use reused contents legally with cc.

Discuss
Is there any other organization or community which provides legal service like CC?

Comments

  1. I didn't know much about the community dealing with copyright issues, so I wanted to find out more. I don't think there are many companies like that. I want to find out more if I have a chance! It is good to learn about creative open source while learning Wikipedia.

  2. There is a GNU when it comes to software, but I don't know anything else. At least in Korea, CC seems to be used generally.
