W7. Good Faith Collaboration / Lee Se Hyun

Opinion

This book covers the whole of Wikipedia. By analyzing the history of cooperation before Wikipedia, the appearance and progress of Wikipedia, we list the reasons and causes of Wikipedia's successful system and its unique characteristics.
The most interesting thing about this book was the nature of Wikipedia's system. Wikipedia, where anyone can participate, has many systems to maintain its collaborative nature. The most interesting of the systems is the manager (mediator) system. Due to the nature of the encyclopedia, which should list objective facts, listing information about politics and society is the most difficult problem. It is more difficult for Wikipedia than for traditional encyclopedias. Different views lead to a strong debate. Wikipedia effectively manages these disputes. It forms a voluntary culture to resolve the issue peacefully through discussion, to make decisions through voting, and to coordinate conflicts through managers (mediators). Problems are often solved through voluntary discussions. Looking at this Wikipedia system, I felt it was a utopian society that we would experience someday. It was interesting to see a good cooperative system through a virtual society called Wikipedia that would be possible if people's awareness grew and capitalism weakened by technological advances. If Wikipedia's collective intellectual nature is applied to society and rolled into a system, it is expected that society will be able to make better progress. Eric Olin Wright argues that social democracy, with a proper cooperative attitude, will be able to maintain a continuous upward graph. I think an example of this is Wikipedia. I think this is evidenced by the growth of non-profit Wikipedia into one of the world's top five websites. I think we should one day analyze Wikipedia's collaborative system and apply it to society. If good-will cooperation is settled in society in a stable manner, we expect a night of infinite social development.

Question

How long will it take for a well-intentioned cooperative system to be established in society? What do you think is a stumbling block to the settlement of the cooperative system?
