W7. Good Faith Collaboration - Youngryun,Chun
1. Review the GFC book
2. What is interesting?
Good Faith Collaboration, which I read
until last week, is a book about the themes of Wikipedia and the Wikipedia
community by Joseph M. Regle Jr. in 2010. This book describes Wikipedia culture
as a pioneering ethnological study. Based on Reagle 's doctoral dissertation,
the book talks about the results of Wikipedia community and their cultural
norms on Wikipedia's success.
Among
the reviews of the book, I agree that it provides an explanation of the social
and cultural phenomenon of Wikipedia. This is because this book explains how
Wikipedia users create culture and social and cultural phenomena. I think this
book is fully understandable to readers who do not have prior knowledge of it.
I also agree that it contributes to
understanding the culture of collaboration between media production and open
content communities. This is because it introduces open contents through
Wikipedia and explains such a system. I think such a book can create a new open
content community.2. What is interesting?
The most interesting thing about this book
was the influence of Wikipedia. Before reading this book, I never thought about
how Wikipedia affects people. I just thought it was an encyclopedia that
conveys information. But now I know that Wikipedia users create social and
cultural phenomena, express customs and culture, and it was interesting to use
Wikipedia directly.
