W13. Categorization - Seungju Lee
1. Summary
The category system has a central goal that
provide navigational links to Wikipedia pages in a hierarchy of categories
which readers, knowing essential—defining—characteristics of a topic. It can
browse and quickly find sets of pages on topics that are defined by those
characteristics.
When naming a category, one should be
particularly careful and choose its name accurately. After you have determined
an appropriate category name and know its parent category, you are ready to
create the new category. Every Wikipedia page should belong to at least one
category.
Categorization of articles must be
verifiable and neutral.
2. Interesting point
It is very interesting that every Wikipedia
page should belong to at least one category. But also it was really difficult for
me to categorize articles that I started by myself.
